Song of Tenderness
(Canción De La Ternura)
Armando Tejada Gómez - César Isella

The sky of my childhood
Had an aroma of basil and bread,
A source of warmth under the sun.
My mother roamed in the light
Of a province of eternity
(My mother's) lap the color of life
(My mother) was a gift, to the color
Of love.
There they remained, my mother and the light,
But I have to carry on
Taking care that in the city
The flower may grow.
I know that I have to roam,
Far away from the sky of my childhood,
A time for fury and song.
I have to rescue, to save
That aroma of basil and bread
That tenderness gave me,
Like a branch of love
Green and (full of) Sun.
There they remained, my mother and the light,
But I have to carry on
Taking care that in the city
The flower may grow.
